AWS Bedrock Govcloud Solution

AWS Bedrock GovCloud gives government agencies, defense organizations, contractors, and other eligible teams a way to build generative AI applications inside AWS GovCloud. Qualix Solutions provides AWS Bedrock GovCloud implementation services that help teams move from a working AI concept to production architecture.

#### AI Pilot Is Running. Manual Work Is Still Running Too.

Every month an AI workload stays trapped in pilot mode, the process it was supposed to improve stays unchanged.

- Can AI do the Task?: Production has to answer many more. Who can access the application? What information can it retrieve? Which model can the workload use? Where does network traffic travel? What is encrypted? What is logged? How will users verify answers? How does the application connect to existing systems? Which capabilities are available in the required GovCloud Region?

#### AWS Bedrock GovCloud Availability - Check the Region Before You Build

Bedrock is available in both AWS GovCloud Regions, but the same models and capabilities are not available everywhere.

1. Region Locked: AWS Bedrock GovCloud availability includes AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West). AWS provides separate model and feature availability matrices because support varies by Region.
2. Validation: Qualix validates Region and feature requirements before locking down the design. Managed Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases are currently supported in AWS GovCloud (US-West), but AWS documents GovCloud-specific differences. Amazon S3 is currently the supported managed data-source connector there, and managed connectors for Microsoft SharePoint, Google Drive, OneDrive, Confluence, Web Crawler, and custom data sources are not available. Document-level ACL filtering is also currently unsupported in that managed Knowledge Base configuration.
3. Integration: If enterprise information originates elsewhere, the architecture may require an ingestion, synchronization, API, segmentation, or custom retrieval pattern rather than assuming a native connector exists. Then we select the architecture, AWS Bedrock GovCloud models, integrations, controls, and deployment pattern that fit those requirements.
4. Security: Difficult part is not proving that the model can answer a question. Difficult part is designing the security, data access, networking, model selection, integrations, logging, governance, and operating model required for production. POC answers many questions.

Value of an AWS Bedrock GovCloud company is not access to Bedrock. AWS account already provides that. Value is getting the full production architecture right.

Q: Is Amazon Bedrock available in AWS GovCloud?

AWS supports selected models from several providers in GovCloud. The catalog changes over time and Region support differs, so teams should use AWS’s current regional model matrix rather than relying on a static list.

Q: Are all AWS GovCloud Bedrock models FedRAMP Class D or DoD IL5 approved?

No. [Authorization status](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/bedrock/latest/userguide/models-regions.html) varies by model. AWS publishes a current model-level matrix showing which models are in FedRAMP Class D and DoD IL4/IL5 scope.

Q: How does AWS GovCloud Bedrock pricing work?

Pricing depends on the model, input and output usage, service tier, and additional Bedrock capabilities used by the application. AWS publishes current model-specific rates on its Bedrock pricing page.

Q: Does AWS Bedrock GovCloud make application FedRAMP compliant?

No. AWS provides services that are within specified compliance boundaries, but the full customer application, configuration, integrations, controls, and system authorization still need to be evaluated.

Q: Can AWS GovCloud Bedrock connect to enterprise data?

Yes, but the integration method depends on the data source and GovCloud feature support. Managed Bedrock Knowledge Bases currently have specific GovCloud limitations, including S3-only managed data-source support in GovCloud US-West. Other repositories may require different approved integration patterns.

Q: Can Amazon Bedrock use private connectivity?

Amazon Bedrock provides GovCloud endpoints, including FIPS endpoints in both GovCloud East and West. Architecture should determine which endpoints and network controls meet the workload requirements.

Q: Does Amazon Bedrock use prompts to train foundation models?

AWS states that customer inputs and outputs in Amazon Bedrock are not used to improve base foundation models and are not shared with model providers for that purpose. The complete workload should still be reviewed for the data-handling behavior of every service being used.

Catalog of AWS GovCloud Bedrock models continues to change. Current AWS documentation includes GovCloud support across selected Amazon, Anthropic, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Google and other model families, but availability is model- and Region-specific. AWS added additional models during 2026, including OpenAI GPT/GPT OSS, NVIDIA Nemotron, and Gemma 4 options. That means a production design should not simply ask:

**“Which is the biggest model?”**

It should ask:

**Which model produces acceptable results for this workload at the required cost, latency, Region, and authorization scope?**

Q: Does AWS Bedrock FedRAMP Requirements Need Model-Level Validation?

AWS Bedrock FedRAMP scope is real, but the service name alone does not authorize your complete application.

AWS GovCloud is designed for sensitive government workloads and supports requirements including FedRAMP and DoD SRG impact levels. AWS currently uses FedRAMP Class D (formerly High) terminology for its GovCloud boundary.

AWS also publishes a model-specific certification matrix for Amazon Bedrock. As of its July 28, 2026 update, selected Amazon Titan, Anthropic Claude, Meta Llama, NVIDIA Nemotron, OpenAI and other models are listed for FedRAMP Class D and/or DoD IL4/IL5 scope in GovCloud. The exact status differs by model.

Qualix therefore does not market an AWS Bedrock FedRAMP implementation as “automatically compliant.”

Instead, we validate the proposed model, services, architecture, data flows, configuration, and workload requirements.

AWS provides the approved cloud capabilities. Your full system still has to be designed and evaluated as a system.

Q: AWS Bedrock GovCloud Pricing Depends on What You Actually Run

There is no single AWS Bedrock GovCloud pricing number. Cost depends on the selected model, token volume, feature usage, inference pattern, and service tier.

AWS publishes AWS GovCloud Bedrock pricing by model and usage type. Current pricing pages include per-token rates for multiple models in GovCloud as well as Standard, Reserved, and other supported inference options. For this reason, Qualix does not estimate production cost by multiplying an arbitrary “AI user license” by employee count.
